About me
My first degree was a BSc (Hons) in Psychology at University College London (UCL). After graduating and securing funding for a PhD in childhood dyscalculia, I chose to take some time away from academic and clinical work. This ended up being a bit longer than I had planned. I worked for over 15 years in the corporate world, holding senior positions at ITV, Virgin Radio and NBC Universal and working as an independent marketing consultant to global companies such as Viacom, Discovery Networks and Mastercard.
Having returned to psychology in 2011, I have completed professional diplomas levels 1 to 4 in Integrated counselling (Person-centred and Psychodynamic), an MSc in Psychological Counselling and a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy.
I work with people of all ages and have extensive experience working with children, young people, adults and older adults. I offer a warm, safe and empathic space to allow clients to explore whatever may be going on and will listen without any judgment to help empower people to work through any challenges or difficult experiences. I work as a Senior Counselling Psychologist in the NHS alongside my private practice.
I have had extensive counselling and academic training and use a pluralistic approach with my clients. I prioritise each client's unique and individual experiences and commit to work using the most appropriate and bespoke approach. My training includes person-centred, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), compassion-focused therapy (CFT), existential psychotherapy and creative therapeutic approaches.
As part of my clinical doctorate, I completed research into working mothers and their experience of navigating working, mothering and teaching roles during the school closures of the COVID-19 lockdowns. I continue to have a specialist interest in well-being at work. This includes the challenges of navigating the demands of working, personal and family life plus any other situation where there is a conflict or tension which can cause stress and overwhelm.
I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and the British Psychological Society (BPS). I am registered as an Applied Psychologist with the Healthcare and Professionals Council (HCPC).
Given my unique background in psychology and the corporate world, I offer support for better psychological well-being in workplace service, including workshops, coaching and one-to-one therapy.
You are the expert on yourself β with my psychological expertise, together we will help you understand yourself better.
